These notes combine advice from 2 reviewed passages across 2 workouts.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”The straight-bar dip is a bar-based pushing movement in which the chest descends below the bar before the body is pulled upward. It requires strength through a deep pushing range, and strong, deep push-ups provide useful preparation.
Technique
Section titled “Technique”Lower the chest beneath the bar as deeply as possible, then pull upward from the bottom position.
Preparation
Section titled “Preparation”Build strong push-ups with substantial depth before progressing to the straight-bar dip. The ability to push effectively from a deep position supports the transition to working below the bar.
