Barbell Curl
These notes combine advice from 3 reviewed passages across 2 workouts.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Movement quality is the priority in the barbell curl. The main technical demands are controlled tempo, stationary elbows, and firm tension through the chest and abdomen.
Execution
Section titled “Execution”Move slowly with awareness of the movement, then make the pull faster. Six or seven repetitions are acceptable when the quality remains good.
Keep the elbows in the same place throughout the curl. Tighten the chest and abdomen so that this tension helps support the movement.
Equipment
Section titled “Equipment”For home training, consider a simple bench as versatile equipment for a setup that includes barbell curls and lying bench presses.
